Let us explain briefly how to manufacture fish hooks.
When it comes to its production process, you are mistaken if you think fish hooks are an easy-to-make pretty simple stuff. Watch out! Looks can be deceiving. Actually, as you can see from the photos above and the flow chart below, it requires many machining processes and highly-skilled craftsmen, supported by technical expertise and craftsmanship that can be achieved only by a long years of experience. This provides Maruto fish hooks with the finest quality, which has been loved by anglers and fishermen around the world.
First, raw materials called wire rods, mainly made of steel, are cut to the length of a fish hook and the ends of the wire are tapered and sharpened to make the length of wire uniform.
Next, the wire is bent to be formed into a hook pattern. This process is called forming.
After the forming process, a fish hook is heated, tempered, and retempered in a heat treat furnace to make it harder.
The fish hook is then polished by using water and wood powder or is chemically sharpend. This is followed by surface treatment, namely either plating or coating to give a finish on the hook.
Finally, quality check is performed and fish hooks are weighed to count quantity. If necessary, the hooks are assembled or snelled to fishing line and are individually-packaged. After that, the hooks are packed into a carton and shipped to customers.
